WROTE BEYOND PAPER

OPINION

by Ranella Garay

Sometimes paper isn’t enough for the students to write on, tear, or crumple. Because of this, we see spray paints and marker inks all over the places they shouldn’t be written on and we see school properties damaged and smudged because of these acts of vandalism.

Because of this issue, the teachers are the ones who are being scolded and blamed. But are they the only ones that should get all the negative comments? Surely they are the ones in charge of handling and shaping the students here in QNHS, but it’s not just them who are involved in this issue.

In addition to this, they are not actually the ones majorly involved in this but the students themselves. No matter how many seminars about vandalism and the importance of preventing it that is made by teachers, if the students choose not to listen, then it would all be useless.

You see, it’s not just the teachers’ fault why the solution for vandalism is running too slowly towards the school, it’s the students’ choice if they would stop doing such crime no matter how much preaching and scolding they receive. So if we ever see a wall full of vandalism somewhere in the school, it’s not because of the incompetence of the teachers and school administrators.

It may be considered that it is because of the stubbornness of the students. To completely demolish this common school problem, not only the teachers should be eager to join and make a solution for it. The students should also lend their ears and have the will to stand with the school teachers and administrators to fully put a stop on this problem.
