TEACHERS AND STUDENTS, HANDS ON FOR NEUTRAL DESK IMPLEMENTATION
NEWS
by Ranella Garay
Various Quezon National High School (QNHS) students concur on the recently signed law stating the mandatory implementation of ‘neutral desks’ to address the needs of left-handed students.
Due to having more armchairs designed for right-handed individuals, the law mandates that it shall be obligatory for all educational institutions, both public and private, that make use of armchairs in the classroom to provide neutral desks to all students.
The said neutral desks are described in the authored law as armchairs that could be used by both right-handed and left-handed students without any issue.
According to a survey conducted in QNHS, 7 out of 10 students agree on this law while the remaining three are unaware of the said law.

In addition to this, 30 out of 30 teachers are hands on for the implementation, stating that it would improve the learning environment of their students.
“Sigurado ako na yung mga classrooms ay mas magiging functional, dadagdag din yun sa comfort ng mga students at ‘di lang sa mga right-handed”, Mrs. Feliza Quevada, principal of QNHS, stated.
Quevada added that she expects a better studying experience for students no matter which hand they use to write with this new implementation and will be sure to analyze it to implement it to the school.
As of now, there are only 2-4 neutral desks in the school per grade level; but because of the newly passed mandated order, the principal stated that the school will be allotting a budget for the said implementation in the near future.
